This odd-sized set commemorates the Detroit Vipers of the IHL. The set was produced by the club as a game-night premium. The cards were issued one per night at twenty different home games, beginning January 3, 1997 and ending April 13. The giveaway dates for each card can be found on the backs of the cards, along with a mugs hot, player nickname and biographical data. The fronts feature an action photo, a reproduction of the player's autograph, and the logo of sponsor Ameritech. The unnumbered cards are listed alphabetically. The set is noteworthy for the inclusion of 1997 draft pick Sergei Samsonov.
