For the first time in over 20 years we have changed the configuration (cards per pack/packs per box). We have also increased the number of inserts per pack and expanded the parallel composition of the basic set. And while the configuration has changed, we've kept the number of Young Guns cards the same (an average of 6 per box). Summarized:
- Average of three (3) inserts per pack (previously average of 1 per pack)
- Four (4) new base set parallels, three (3) of which are serial numbered
- No change in the number of Young Guns cards per box (6 on average)

Series 1 contains the first 250 cards of the 2023-24 Upper Deck Base Set. The annual Upper Deck Base Set is the most collected base set in ice hockey. The set includes 198 Veteran cards, 49 Young Guns (the most anticipated rookie cards of the season!) and three Checklist cards. As already mentioned, we have expanded the parallels. Here are the new parallels:

- Deluxe (#'d to 250)
- Outburst Red (#'d to 25)
- Outburst Gold (#'d 1-of-1)
The recurring and popular Exclusives (#'d to 100), High Gloss (#'d to 10) and Clear Cut (hobby-exclusive) Parallels round out the impressive lineup, providing collectors with a large number of sought-after cards. Are you ready to hunt for 1-of-1 Young Guns cards?

After the successful debut in the 2022-23 season, the “Population Count” insert series returns, but with an innovation. This season every card is printed on acetate paper! There are seven different editions (1000, 500, 100, 50, 25, 10 and 1) of this unique 30-card set, modeled after the Slabbed cards and featuring high-profile stars and rookies. Everyone will be looking for the lower edition versions!
