This hobby-only set was issued in one series totaling 180 cards, with three varying levels of difficulty: Single Black Diamond (1-90), Double Black Diamond (91-150), and Triple Black Diamond (151-180). Doubles were inserted 1:4 packs and Triples 1:30 packs. Packs of six cards retailed for $3.49. This set is most noteworthy because of the inlcusion of one of the most sought after RCs to date, #160 Joe Thornton. The Gretzky promo mirrors the regular issue, aside from the word SAMPLE which runs across his portrait on the card back. This set was extremely condition sensitive.
