The 1996-97 Donruss set was issued in one series totaling 240 cards. The 10-card packs retailed for $1.89 each. Card fronts feature a borderless color action photo along with player name at the top and team name and logo at the bottom. Card backs feature another color action photo, along with stats and biographical information. Key Rookie Cards include Ethan Moreau and Kevin Hodson.

This 240-card standard size set is a parallel issue to the regular Donruss set. A cut-out star in the upper right-hand corner, along with the words "First 2,000 Printed, Press Proof" printed above the set logo, along the bottom distinguish these cards from their regular counterparts.
