The 1997-98 Upper Deck Black Diamond set was issued in one series totaling 150 cards and distributed in six-card packs. The fronts feature color action player photos reproduced on Light F/X card stock with foil treatment and one, two, three, or four Black Diamonds on the front designating its rarity. The backs carry player information and statistics.

Randomly inserted in packs at the rate of 1:3, this 150-card set is an all-gold Light F/X parallel version of the base set with three black diamonds printed on the card fronts.
